How do I backdate birthday and work anniversary points?

Recognize employees for birthdays or work anniversaries that occurred before you started using Nectar.

Step 1: Create the Custom Award

  1. Go to Workspace Settings.

  2. Click Awards from the left sidebar.

    1. Set the award name to reflect the purpose, such as:

      1. "Backdated Birthday Award"

      2. "Backdated Anniversary Award"

    2. Set the point value to match your typical automated award amount.

Tip: Use the same messaging and points that you would normally include in your automated birthday or anniversary awards for consistency.

Step 2: Send the Custom Award to Users

  1. Navigate to the Home page in Nectar.

  2. Toggle from Shoutout to Award at the top of the post box.

  3. Fill out the required fields:

    1. Select Award: Click into the field to view available Awards, or type to search for a specific one.

      1. Select Recipient: Add one or more usernames using the @ symbol. You can select multiple people by typing @ and searching for each person's name in sequence.

  4. Preview: This is just to show you what the text of the award will look like. This is not customizable from the post box. If you would like to change the messaging, that will have to be done in Workspace Settings by an Admin.

  5. Toggle to hide awarded points from the Leaderboard if desired.

  6. Click Send Award β€” your recognition will post immediately.

Common Issues When Sending Awards

  • The 'Send Award' Button Is Not Clickable: Ensure you do not include your own username in the recipient list, as Nectar does not allow users to send awards to themselves.

    • Resolution: Remove your name from the recipient list and, if necessary, use administrative settings for personal adjustments.

  • Verifying the Recipient List: Double-check that all intended recipients are tagged using the @ symbol and their names are listed correctly.

  • Tip: Always review the recipient list before sending to ensure accuracy and avoid errors.

For milestone work anniversaries

If you want to recognize different point amounts based on years of service, you have two options:

Option 1: Create separate Custom Awards

  • Set up one award for each milestone year (e.g., 1 year, 3 years, 5 years) with the appropriate point values.

Option 2: Use a single Custom Award and edit each time

  • Use one general backdated Work Anniversary Custom Award.

  • Manually adjust the point amount before sending to each recipient based on their milestone.

Tip: Keep a simple spreadsheet to track who has received which milestone if you're awarding in batches.
