How do I send a Custom Award?

Once your Custom Award is created, you can now send it from Home page in Nectar.

What is a Custom Award?

Custom Awards allow admins and managers to send personalized, repeatable recognitions with set point values and messages. You can read more about what a Custom Award is and how to create one here.


Where do I send a Custom Award?

Custom Awards are sent from the Home Feed, just like a standard shoutout.

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. Navigate to the Home page in Nectar.

  2. Toggle from Shoutout to Award at the top of the post box.

  3. Fill out the required fields:

    • Select Award: Click into the field to view available Awards, or type to search for a specific one.

    • Select Recipient: Add one or more usernames using the @ symbol.

  4. Message: This shows what the text of the award will look like. This is customizable in the message box. You can add additional messaging to the award you are sending without affecting the template.

  5. Points: If this box isn't greyed out, this Award has Flexible points which means the points can be adjusted to add or remove the number of points being sent with the award. If the box is greyed out it means there is a fixed amount for the award and cannot be adjusted unless you go to the Award Admin settings.

  6. Toggle to hide awarded points from the Leaderboard if desired.

  7. Click Send Award — your recognition will post immediately.

Tip: If you don’t see any Awards listed in the Select Award field, you likely haven’t been given permission to send any. Contact your account Admin for access.

Note: Only Admins and Managers will see the Award tab on the Home Feed post box, and only they can send Custom Awards.


Uploading recipients in Bulk

If you're sending a Custom Award to a large group, you can save time by uploading recipients in bulk using a CSV file.

What should my CSV file look like?

Create a spreadsheet with one column:

  • Label the header as email

  • List the email addresses of all recipients under that column

Save your file as a .csv format.

Tip: Make sure there are no extra spaces or special characters in the email addresses to avoid errors during upload.

How do I upload the CSV to a Custom Award?

  1. Go to the Custom Award you want to send.

  2. Click Upload CSV above the Select Recipients box.

  3. Choose your saved CSV file from your device.

  4. The system will automatically add all recipients based on the emails in your file.

  5. Review and adjust the award details as needed.

  6. Click Send to finish.

Note: If any email addresses are not associated with active users in Nectar, they will not be added successfully.


Limitations of Award Distribution

One limitation is that awards cannot be sent directly from the company account; they must be distributed under the administrator's name with any company attribution included in the messaging.
