How do I send a shoutout in Nectar?

Follow these steps to send a shoutout and recognize your teammates with points and values.

1. Navigate to the Home page

Start by clicking “Home” on the left-hand navigation menu in Nectar to open your company’s social feed.

2. Click into the shoutout box

At the top of the homepage, you’ll see the shoutout box. Click into it to begin creating your message.


3. Choose your recipient(s)

You can:

  • Click the “People” button to select teammates from a list

  • or Type @ followed by their name to search manually

✅ You can shout out multiple people in a single message. Each person will receive the full number of points you choose.

4. Add points

  • Click the “Points” button to choose how many points to give.

    • To enter a custom number not listed, just type + followed by the number (e.g. +23).

📌 If you shout out 2 people and give 5 points, each person gets 5 points, and 10 points are deducted from your “Points to Give.”

5. Write your message

Type a custom message of appreciation to go with your shoutout!

6. Add a Core Value

You can:

  • Click the “Values” button to see available options

  • or Type # to bring up a list of Core Values

⚠️ Including at least one Core Value is required to send your shoutout.

7. (Optional) Add extras: Emojis, GIFs, or images

Use the icons along the bottom of the shoutout box to attach:

  • Emojis

  • GIFs

  • Images

8. Send your shoutout

Once everything looks good, click “Send Points” to publish your shoutout.

9. View your shoutout in the social feed

After sending, your shoutout will appear instantly in the social feed at the top of the page.


🔒 Notes for Managers and Admins

  • Keep Shoutout Private and Hide from Leaderboard options are only available to Managers and Administrators.

  • These options appear at the bottom of the shoutout composer when permissions allow.
