You can upload a CSV file to quickly add groups of employees as recipients—whether you're drafting a communication or managing a manual list. This is especially useful when working with lists from external systems or custom reports.

CSV uploads are supported in two areas:

  • While drafting a communication (Communication Settings → Recipients)

  • When creating or editing a Manual List (Lists → Manual Lists)

How do I upload a CSV while drafting a communication?

  1. Open your communication draft.

  2. In Communication Settings, go to the Recipients section.

  3. Select Upload CSV (top-right corner).

  4. Choose a .csv file that includes at least one header column labeled email.

  5. Review the validation results.

  6. Confirm to add all validated recipients. These will be added as individual recipients to the communication.

🤩 Tip: After uploading recipients, you can select Save as New List to create a reusable Manual List from this group.

How do I upload a CSV when creating or editing a Manual List?

To create a new Manual List:

  1. Go to Lists → Create New List → Manual List.

  2. On the Add recipients to list screen, select Upload CSV.

  3. Complete the validation process.

  4. All validated recipients will be automatically selected.

  5. Click Add recipients to save the list.

To add recipients to an existing Manual List:

  1. Open the Manual List and select Edit Recipients.

  2. Click Upload CSV.

  3. Complete the validation process.

  4. Uploaded recipients are added and selected. Existing list members remain selected.

What are the CSV file requirements?

  • File type: .csv

  • Required column: email (case-insensitive)

  • Optional columns: You may include extra columns (e.g., name, department, employee ID), but they won’t be used.

  • Only valid recipients: Emails must match active users with Comms access in the workspace.

What happens during validation?

Emails in the file may be flagged if:

  • The email does not exist in the workspace.

  • The user exists but does not have Comms recipient access.

  • The email format is invalid.

Tips & troubleshooting

Note: CSV uploads add recipients but do not remove existing list members.

  • Non-Nectar users are flagged and excluded unless added to the workspace.

  • Users without Comms access are flagged and excluded until access is granted.

  • Duplicate emails are evaluated once and won’t create duplicate entries.
