What is an Engagement Survey?
An Engagement Survey is a company-wide survey designed to measure how connected, motivated, and committed employees feel to their work and organization.
It helps you understand not just how engaged your workforce is (the outcome), but also why they feel that way (the drivers) — allowing you to address root causes of disengagement early.
How does the Engagement Survey work?
The standard Engagement Survey includes 33 research-backed questions that explore key areas of the employee experience, from leadership trust to recognition and growth.
Two layers of insight:
Engagement Index (Outcome):
A score based on 5 core questions that reflect overall engagement. This gives a high-level view of how employees feel about their work, company, and future.Pillars (Drivers):
These are the underlying themes (e.g., leadership, communication, development) that explain why engagement is high or low. Each Pillar helps pinpoint where to focus improvements.
Example:
Low scores in the Recognition pillar may indicate employees don’t feel valued — a key factor in disengagement.
Because the survey is standardized, you can:
Benchmark results across teams or departments
Track trends over time
Identify where leadership action is most needed
When should I send an Engagement Survey?
We recommend sending it once or twice per year — typically every 6 or 12 months. This cadence balances regular feedback with avoiding survey fatigue.
Send it to everyone in the organization, regardless of level or team.
Broad participation ensures results reflect the true state of engagement.
Once you're ready, our setup flow will walk you through each step — from customizing questions to scheduling delivery.
