External Redemptions are items fulfilled by Nectar or its third-party partners. Because these items are sourced through the marketplace or vendor integrations, your company is financially charged for each redemption.

These redemptions reflect real spend and are included in your:

  • Monthly invoices

  • Budget reports

  • Analytics dashboards

What counts as an External Redemption?

Any redemption fulfilled by Nectar’s marketplace or an integrated fulfillment partner is considered external.

External Redemption item types include:

  • Gift Cards – All types and vendors

  • Amazon Products

  • Donations

  • Swag – Ordered via Nectar Marketplace

  • Axomo Swag – Through the Axomo integration

⚠️ These item types always generate a financial charge to your company.

How do External Redemptions appear in analytics?

In reports and dashboards, External Redemptions will:

  • Appear under the External filter

  • Count toward billed spend in invoices

  • Deduct from budgets using FIFO (first in, first out) logic

  • Show full dollar values in both:

    • Item Total

    • Budget Used

What are examples of External Redemptions?

  • A user redeems a $50 Amazon gift card → ✅ External Redemption

  • A team member orders a hoodie from Axomo → ✅ External Redemption

  • An employee donates $25 to charity via Nectar → ✅ External Redemption

  • A manager purchases company swag through the marketplace → ✅ External Redemption

Why do External Redemptions matter?

Tracking external redemptions gives admins clear visibility into:

  • Actual financial spend

  • Budget consumption

  • Departmental chargebacks

  • Recognition program costs over time

Understanding these transactions helps you manage real-dollar impact across teams and initiatives.
