Digital Signage for Comms

Turn your Comms content into TV-ready slides for the screens around your workplace

Written by Marissa Tingey

Digital Signage is a new feature within Comms that lets admins create TV-ready slide content to display on screens around the office. You'll build slides using a custom 16:9 drag-and-drop editor, organize them into collections, and share them with a display URL that works with any digital signage player you already use. Digital Signage is a separate tool from the design editor used for the rest of Comms.

🌟 Digital Signage is now available to all Comms customers at no additional cost. Find it on the left hand navigation.

Does this replace my digital signage software (like Yodeck)?

No. Digital Signage is where you create and manage your slide content — your digital signage software is still where you manage your screens, devices, and locations, exactly as it does today. Nectar just makes the content side dramatically easier: build your slides in one place, generate a single display URL, and drop it into your existing player once. No more building slides in PowerPoint, exporting them to a shared drive, and uploading them one by one.

How do I create a collection?

Collections keep your slides organized — for example, you might have a collection for company announcements and a separate one for a specific location or team. Slides MUST be part of a collection, you can't create standalone slides.

  1. From the Digital Signage section, click "New Collection" and give it a name.

2. Select or Create Categories

  • Categories are the organizational layer you apply to collections — they're how you group and filter collections in the Digital Signage view, not a separate content bucket.

  • You might create a collection for "Lobby TVs" and then apply categories like "New York Office," "San Francisco Office," and any other applicable offices that have lobby TVs.

💡 You can pause a collection at any time to temporarily stop it from displaying, then resume it later. Find it in the 3 dot menu on either your collection or individual slide

How do I build a slide?

Slides are built in a custom drag-and-drop editor made specifically for 16:9 TV displays.

  1. From a collection, create a new slide. You'll be able to select from your available templates, or start from scratch. Be sure to give your slide a name so you can find it later!

  2. Use the drag-and-drop editor to add and arrange content blocks on the 16:9 canvas.

  3. Preview your slide to see how it will look on screen before publishing.

💡 You can also pause an individual slide without affecting the rest of the collection. Helpful for temporarily removing outdated information while keeping everything else live.

What content blocks can I add to a slide?

You can add Title, Text, Lists, Images, Rectangle, Icons, or QR Codes.

A QR code can link to:

  • An internal Comm built in the design editor, or

  • A custom URL

⚠️ Links to Internal Comms built in the design editor must be SENT. You can not link to a Comm in a draft or unpublished state.

Can I use templates?

Yes. You can save your own slide designs as templates and reuse them across your workspace.

  • Apply a saved workspace template to a new slide to speed up slide creation.

  • Save any slide you build as a template for your workspace to reuse later.

Note: In this release, you can only create and apply templates saved to your own workspace. A pre-built, Nectar-created template library isn't available yet.

How do I manage multiple slides or collections at once?

Use multi-select to take bulk action on slides or collections — for example, duplicating or deleting several at once — instead of updating them one by one.

  1. From the Digital Signage section, select the slides or collections you want to update.

  2. Choose a bulk action, such as duplicate or delete.

How do I get my slides onto my TV screens?

Each collection generates its own Display URL — a single link you paste into your existing digital signage player (like Yodeck) to show that collection's slides on your screens.

  1. Open the collection you want to display.

  2. Click Export

  3. Copy the Display URL.

  4. Paste it into your digital signage player, and assign it to your devices and locations as you normally would.

Active slides in the collection auto-advance on a timer. Any paused slides will be skipped until they are reactivated.

🔒 The Display URL is token-gated, which is what keeps your slides private to your digital signage player. Treat it like a password — anyone with the link can view the collection's content, so only share it with the people or systems that need it.
